This month has been a lot. Storms outside — the kind that cancelled events and changed plans. And storms inside — the kind that change your life.
After almost seven years, I’m navigating the end of a long-term relationship. It’s one of the hardest things I’ve done. But growth isn’t pretty. It looks like packing boxes and sleeping in a house that doesn’t feel like yours yet.
Letting Go
When you start growing, you start choosing differently. Not because you want to hurt anyone, but because you can’t keep living in a version of your life that no longer fits.
Letting go of someone you’ve shared seven years with isn’t brave. It’s just honest. And the hardest thing I’ve done this year is also the most honest.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve leaned hard into the things that keep me steady: morning exercise, breathwork, time in nature, early nights, good food. Not as a performance of wellness — as survival. These are the things that hold me together when everything else is shifting.
The Boring Kind of Self-Care
Real growth comes from looking after yourself when it’s hardest to do it. Not the spa-day kind of self-care. The boring, daily, nobody-sees-it kind. Getting up early when you’d rather stay in bed. Cooking a proper meal when toast would be easier. Saying no to the thing that would numb the pain but won’t heal it.
IslandSoul was born from this. From knowing what it feels like when life falls apart and choosing to rebuild around what actually matters — not what looks good from the outside.
What Comes Next
It’s been a tough month. But here’s what I know: every time I’ve chosen myself — even when it hurt — something better followed. Not immediately. Not easily. But eventually.
If you’re in your own storm right now, I want you to know: it’s okay to choose yourself. It’s okay to outgrow things. It’s okay to not have it figured out.
Just keep going. Keep moving. Keep choosing what feels true, even when it’s uncomfortable.
That’s where the magic is.
