Where It Started
From the outside, my life looked exactly the way it was supposed to. Good job. World travel. Passport full of stamps. Loving friends and family around me.
But I was tired in a way sleep couldn’t fix. I’d spent years in corporate transformation — over 25 years building things for other people, running on stress, and numbing the rest with alcohol and busyness. I was successful by every measure except the one that mattered: I didn’t feel alive.
The Moment Everything Changed
I didn’t have a dramatic wake-up call. I just got honest with myself one morning and couldn’t go back to pretending.
I left my career. I stopped drinking. I travelled to over 70 countries, searching for something I couldn’t name. Along the way, I discovered scuba diving — despite being terrified of the ocean. That fear, and facing it, became the turning point. Underwater, there’s no performance. Just breath and presence. I became a diving instructor, and for the first time in decades, I felt like myself.
What IslandSoul Means
IslandSoul carries everything I’ve learned on that journey. Every experience we design — from breathwork sessions to full-day festivals — is built on the same idea: that when people feel safe, connected, and present, something shifts. Not just for a moment. For good.
The IslandSoul Festival is the fullest expression of that. It’s wellness, creativity, music, movement, and community all in one day. Not a performance. A feeling.
Why I Share This
The festival is my way of giving back everything that helped me find my way home. The breathwork that calmed my nervous system. The movement that got me out of my head. The connections that reminded me I wasn’t alone.
I don’t share my story because it’s special. I share it because it’s common. A lot of people are living the life I used to live — successful on the outside, empty on the inside. If this reaches even one person in that place, it’s worth it.
An Invitation
If any of this resonates, take it as a sign. You don’t need to quit your job or travel to 70 countries. You just need to start paying attention to how you feel — and making choices that honour it.
Come to a festival. Join a community event. Take a walk on the beach at sunset. Whatever it is, start with what feels true.
Come as you are. That’s always been enough.
